1. First check whether you are already on the automatic route. Since July 2025, if you are starting employment in Malta and have an A-series Maltese residence card, your Jobsplus engagement details are normally sent automatically to Social Security and an SSN is issued if you are eligible. 2. Do not submit a second application just because you have not seen the number yet. 3. If you already had a Maltese SSN in the past, it stays with you for life. Call 153, or +356 21255153 from abroad, if you need help finding an existing number. 4. If you do not have the Maltese ID details needed for the automatic route, or you fall into a category that must apply manually, use the official online SSN form below. 5. Keep your personal details consistent across Identità and Jobsplus because mismatched details can stop automatic issuance.
