If your job in Malta will last for less than six months, the normal Single Permit route may not be the right procedure. Identità states that a third-country national employed for less than six months may apply for a residence permit once a valid employment licence for that period has been issued by Jobsplus.
This permit is not renewable. If you intend to live and work in Malta for six months or more, you need to use the Single Permit route instead.
The current Identità fee for an Employment Less Than 6 Months application is €50. The application is submitted through the Expatriates Portal and the exact documents depend on whether the applicant is already legally in Malta or is still abroad.
