An intra-corporate transfer is a temporary secondment of a third-country national from an undertaking outside Malta to a Maltese host entity that belongs to the same undertaking or group.

The route covers managers, specialists and trainee employees. The application must show the relationship between the overseas undertaking and the Maltese host entity, the applicant’s employment within the group and the details of the assignment in Malta.

Identità currently lists a first-time fee of €300 and a renewal fee of €200 per year, with renewals possible for the permitted duration up to three years depending on the case.

The employment contract or assignment letter should set out the duration and location of the transfer, the role in Malta, remuneration and the ability to transfer back to an entity in the group after the assignment.
