What is stored

Readers do not currently need an account. If you choose a locality or language, the browser stores that preference in local storage and a same-site cookie. If you request a location suggestion, coordinates are used transiently in your browser to find a nearby Malta locality; exact coordinates are not saved by OryxAtlas.

Page translation

When you use a non-English language, OryxAtlas may use GTranslate and Google translation technology in your browser to translate the English public page text. Page text needed for translation is processed by those services and a translation preference cookie may be used. See the GTranslate Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy for their processing practices.

Local place discovery

When Google Maps-powered place results are enabled, OryxAtlas sends the selected Malta locality coordinates and, when entered, the place or service search term to Google Maps Platform to retrieve live nearby results. OryxAtlas does not send your device’s exact coordinates for this feature and does not copy Google Places content into its own listing database. Google processes this request under the Google Privacy Policy and Google Maps Platform Terms.

Submissions and staff access

The Advertise form stores the business and contact details, proposed advertising copy, selected localities, declarations, notes, and image that you submit so authorized staff can review the proposal. Staff accounts use Supabase authentication and multi-factor access controls. OryxAtlas does not currently provide reader accounts, advertising payments, or marketing signup.

Recommendation statistics

We count recommendation views and clicks to improve the selection. These counts do not include a reader identifier, search terms or device coordinates. These event records are deleted after 30 days.

Infrastructure and retention

Hosting and database providers necessarily process technical request data needed to deliver and secure the service. The application does not currently load a third-party advertising or analytics script. Submission data is retained while it is needed for review, audit, security, and campaign administration; a final production retention schedule must be confirmed before launch.
