What should you do?
Apply under the Study basis
EU citizens enrolled in studies in Malta and staying for more than three months must register their residence with Identità under the Study basis.
The applicant must show enrolment in a licensed and accredited educational establishment. Identità also requires sufficient resources so that the student does not become a burden on Malta’s social-assistance system.
Comprehensive sickness-insurance cover is generally required. Identità’s rules include specific exceptions for certain students, so the latest official page should be checked before arranging insurance.
The application is submitted online through the Expatriates Unit Portal under the Study basis.
